Man of the House
The phrase the kids often hear when I want to stop all complaints and arguments- "Daddy's the man of the house". For example...he likes to sneak cookies before dinner. When the kids try to sneak one I say, "No". Their response, "Daddy did!" And I say, "He's the man of the house". A few nights ago I used this when they wanted their second breadstick before dinner. Brooklyn responded with a frown, "I just realized I'm never going to be the man of the house."

23rd Street
We spent the day on my favorite street in Portland. Had the most fun at the hat shop. We discovered a new store named Brooklyn Industries with some great clothes. I asked for a discount for Brooklyn, but they weren't in to that. I thought of my good friend, Karla, in the Paper Store and Candace, as we passed the big horse on the sidewalk. It was a great day and ended with gluten-free pizza from Bellagios. Yum!

Ape Caves- Take Two
We were able to visit Ape Cave this August and it was an amazing experience. Ryan and the kids loved it and so did I. I'm just not going to be returning for any more cave exploring. I wasn't scared of the dark, but it definitely got to me after about 1 1/2 hours. My sweet boy (Marshall) walked back quickly with me after we had reached the end while Brooklyn and Ryan slowly made their way exploring every small space they could find. I do highly recommend this adventure, but would suggest lanterns along with flashlights.
